RH (Restoration Hardware Holdings, Inc.) debuted an industry-defining compilation of 13 Source Books for 2014. “We believe the new presentation and organization of our annual Source Books is revolutionary and will be transformative to our business,” says RH Chairman and CEO Gary Friedman. This design library has been architected around inspiration and categorization. Four lifestyle books – RH Interiors, RH Outdoor, RH Small Spaces and RH Baby & Child – generate new ideas and fresh perspectives on designing and defining a home. The four lifestyle books are accompanied by nine category books – RH Leather, RH Upholstery, RH Furniture, RH Rugs, RH Lighting, RH Bath, RH Linens, RH Objects of Curiosity and RH Tableware – to provide a resource for consumers and designers alike.

Original editorial profiles included in the books celebrate the craftsmanship of internationally recognized designers and artisan manufacturers, as well as highlight their new collections for RH. In “A Family Affair,” RH introduces the Fincos, a family that has been artfully tanning fine leather in the medieval town of Bassano del Grappa for five generations spanning 149 years. Similarly, in “The Deconstructionists,” readers meet the Ferreros –another Italian family who have literally turned the leather industry inside out, dreaming up an entirely new distressed leather called Destroyed. The adventurous and ever-inspired Dutch furniture designer Luay Al-Rawi is featured in “The Globe Trotter of Haarlem,” and the incomparable Van Thiel family – driven by their legendary obsession with old-world antiques –take center stage in “The Mad Men of the Netherlands.” Persian-born, London-raised Ben Soleimani – whose partnership with RH has yielded over 3,500 new, masterfully handcrafted rugs – and renowned American designers John Hutton and David and Ann Sutherland are also among those recognized for their new collections.

The 13 Source Books debuted in May. The concept, production and mailing of the books underscore RH’s commitment to sustainability. The Source Books are published just once a year and mailed in a single package, printed on forest-certified paper, shipped carbon neutral and are fully recyclable. RH is the founding sponsor of the Verso Forest Certification Grant Program, which provides start-up funding to expand forest certification and advance responsible management practices, such as promoting a cycle of sustainability. All Source Books are printed on PEFC-certified paper sourced exclusively from such forests in North America. To further mitigate its carbon footprint, RH also collaborates with UPS® to ship UPS carbon neutral ™. On RH’s behalf, UPS purchases certified carbon offsets to fund conservation and reforestation projects, such as wetlands restoration and planting trees in national forests. Together, these steps help reduce our environmental impact.
